John D. Rockefeller

John D. Rockefeller was the founder of Standard Oil Company and lived during the late 1800s into the early 1900s. He is known to be one of the richest men to ever live, and his current family is worth $11 billion dollars, which was just a fraction of his wealth, which if transferred to 2020 value, would be around $285 billion. He was born in New York, lived a long and very prosperous life, and died at 97 in Florida. Because he gained so much money over his lifetime and built a huge empire, many people believed his methods to be unethical. Standard Oil was forced to dissolve in 1911 because the government found that it had violated anti-trust laws. He was seen as a flourishing businessman and philanthropist by some and a greedy, ruthless tyrant by others. This is to be expected for pretty much any very wealthy person because rumors and theories always find their way into media and the press. John D. Rockefeller and his wife had five children who, being born into such immense wealth, were able to live very lavish lives pursuing their interests with no worry of financial strain. Through his philanthropy, John D. Rockefeller helped build many institutions that have become extremely helpful and important to America and the world. For example, the Rockefeller Sanitary Commission which was established by Mr. Rockefeller successfully eradicated hookworm in the South in under 20 years. John D. Rockefeller was one of the most important men to ever live as he went on to develop huge parts of cities and give away hundreds of millions of dollars.

This something can be anything from a pair of shoes to a dance move to a hairstyle, and there are a couple of variables that are necessary to the success of the something.  Ethan Zweig Mr. Roddy IHSS September 27, 2021 "The Culture of Fear"     "The Culture of Fear" was written in 1999 by Barry Glassner, who was a sociology professor at USC. The book explains who Americans are so engrossed with "fear of wrong things". Glassner examines and exposes the people who manipulate Americans perceptions profit from the often baseless anxieties they cultivate and encourage. Three out of four Americans say they feel more more fearful than they did a decade ago. Culture of fear is the concept that people incite fear in the general public to achieve political or workplace goals through emotional bias. Barry Glassner found out that no amount of debunking can wipeout fear.
